Operation Diabetes

My name is Maliha, and I will be serving as the APhA-ASP Operation Diabetes Chair for the 2022-2023 academic year.Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases in the United States, and as future pharmacists, we will be met with this reality quite often. The goal of this committee will be to increase overall awareness of diabetes and the role pharmacists play in preventing and managing the effects of diabetes. Joining this committee will be a great opportunity for you to further your knowledge of this chronic condition and hopefully, you will be able to apply what you have learned to your future practice! By conducting blood glucose screenings and educating the public on the risk factors for diabetes, the importance of medication compliance, and adequately controlling patients' blood glucose levels, we can help individuals across the nation improve their quality of life.If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to reach out to me via email at [email protected].

Operation Substance Use Disorders

The goals of APHA-ASP Operation Substance Use Disorders is to increase awareness among community members about the potential dangers of prescription medication misuse and abuse, what substance use disorders are, and how to support recovery by providing educational resources to people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Pharmacists and student pharmacists play a critical role in not only educating our community about substance use disorders, but also advocating to improve regulatory guidance around preventing prescription opioid misuse, and easing access and affordability of naloxone.If you would like to learn more about substance use disorders or have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me via email ([email protected]) or messenger (@Anisha Varghese). Operation Heart

Hello! My name is Hanna Song and I am APhA-ASP’s Operation Heart Committee chair for the 2022-23 year.Operation Heart Committee encourages students to learn lifestyle modifications, monitor associated risk factors, and provide education about medications for heart disease. There are many events including informational presentations and community volunteering focused on advancing the pharmacy profession in our local community while giving committee members the opportunity to practice clinical skills. Operation Immunization

Hi everyone! My name is Riya, and I am the Operation Immunization Chair.This project is an immunization education campaign designed to increase the public's knowledge of vaccines, and to encourage more people to stay up to date on their immunizations. OTC Medicine Safety

My name is Rand Ayoub and I am the APhA-ASP Over-The-Counter Medication Safety Chair for the 2022-2023 academic year.The mission of OTC Medication Safety is to educate pediatric patients, their parents, and caregivers on medication safety and use such as: following OTC label directions, reading medication directions, proper measurement of medications, safe storage and disposal of medications, consulting with a parent or guardian before taking medications, and much more. Pharmacists serve as the most accessible and reliable healthcare professionals, which is why it is important to spread our knowledge within our communities and make sure they are aware of everything they need to know regarding their medications. My name is Jeilyn Nunez, and I am serving as the 2022-2023 Operations Public Health Committee Chair for this academic school year.The mission of Operations public health is to raise awareness about current public health issues. Including substance abuse, infectious diseases, mental health, and nutrition. As students it is important to learn and educate one another on topics such as these. Operation Reproductive Health

Hello! My name is Victoria Perez, and I am the Operation Reproductive Health Chair for the 2022-2023 academic year.The goals for Operation Reproductive Health represent informing others and increasing awareness on sexual and reproductive health, as well as how pharmacists become a resource to this topic. One recent change that was made to this chair was to include all genders and educate students on reproductive health for all, since cancer prevention and STI education is an important discussion for any gender.
